A three piece band, Bobby Maynard & The Breakdown all sing in the band, and play a variety of instruments while entertaining their guests.

Charles Morris, VP of External Affairs, is excited about this new program and what it can offer to OVU students and the community. The goal of this series is to introduce people to music that they may not typically listen to, yet to do so in a subtle way.

A singer in a barbershop quartet, Morris has a love for music and has many ideas he's looking forward to bringing to the social calendar of OVU.

The Performing Arts Series began last month with a Mariachi performance by Mariachi Guadalajara (a national act based out of Columbus, OH). Their performance began outdoors at the courtyard fountain, along with a snacks, sombreros, and dancing. The goal is to begin with lighthearted and fun "easy to love" music (such as the party that Mariachi brings), and gradually shift toward the still, more contemplative arts of traditional classical music, as the school year progresses.

OVU was inspired to dance during Mariachi Guadalajara's fiesta performance. Several of the students noted they'd never heard a Mariachi performance, before. The first guests included students, teachers, staff and local community members and families. Photo by Michelle Waters.
